Stockpiling

Stockpiling

So what is Stockpiling: There are more than one definition of Stockpiling, but the way were using the term in the coupon world: Is stocking up on items for future use (for example toilet paper, shampoo & Conditioner, toothpaste, and so on-whether it is food or nonfood)

When it comes to stockpiling: Your freezer will be your number 1 Friend!

A good way to start Stockpiling is think about what your family eats and go through, when you think about stockpiling think about can foods, and items that go beyond the kitchen. Make a list of items you would like to stockpile.

Another tip: Don't stock your stockpile with items that aren't on sale. Track Sales with a price book - buy items in bulk for example: if you have 6 coupons for Cheerios and after the sale price and coupons make it $.50 cents each- it would be worth the money because you won't have to buy cereal for a while.
Knowing when to buy items are key: A lot of couponers will talk about rock bottom price ( I won't lie I still haven't quite figure that out) but I know there are certain items that I will only pay for that price or lower for example my Purex Laundry Detergent it is normally like $6.97 or so for a 50 oz bottle - I'm only willing to pay $1.99 for each bottle-when it's on sale like that I buy to stock up. So if it goes on sale for $2.99 and there's a coupon for $1 off-it makes it $1.99 - I also know that it will be another 6 weeks or so before I see a sale like that with a coupon offer. I'm really picky. So I will stock up on items like that. So I don't have issues paying $13.97 for 7 bottles after coupons versus, 20.93 if I didn't have coupons. Know what you are willing to pay for items. Also if you are not picky about items of what you use (then you can stockpile on a lot of items) -if your picky about brands, and what you use (then yes stockpiling will take some time-but it will happen) * Please not that it doesn't happen just overnight, it takes time, and practice.

Keep track of your stockpile: Write expiration's dates on items, old items in back, new items in front. Check pantry before going shopping -so you know what you need to stock up on.

Also here's a shopping list that I love using:Shopping List
or she also has a price matching shopping list:Price Match Shopping List

Don't know if I mentioned this before, if I already did sorry, but will re say it again: Only buy items that your going to use, if there's a item for free (for example: a certain brand of cereal -something that your family isn't going to eat at full price-doesn't mean that they will after getting it for free)

Ooh I'm almost forgot, make sure you organize your stockpile, you don't want yours looking like mine and over-run-so organize it. :) I love the shelves and having baskets to put my stuff in that's non-food wise, but get containers, zip lock bags and more to organize your items -
Also another great site to look at about stockpiling is :Stockpiling 101 Series from Stockpilingmoms.com

  1. Is this an active site. I have found Facebook stock piles, but no one near making it worth the savings to buy from. Hopefully this site will.
